For years regexxer version is v0.9 in Ubuntu although a v0.10 is available since 2011 on Sourceforge:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/regexxer/files/regexxer/

My versions:
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
regexxer 0.9-6ubuntu3

Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I see that version 0.10-2 has been packaged in Debian (https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/regexxer). Normally, newer packages can be synced, but since the Ubuntu package carries some additional patches, someone will need to do a manual merge to get it into Ubuntu.
