Bug Description

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

After doing a couple or so searches via the deskbar applet, I am often getting this error, asking me whether I want deskbar-applet to reload or not. Some time after reloading, it crashes again. I've got this happening several times over several machine reboots, so the crashes seem to be often enough to be a significant problem.

This is on Ubuntu 7.10 final, fully updated.

I get the same error, via:
1- gnome-panel freezes
2- kill gnome-panel with -9
3- gnome-panel restarts, and deskbar-applet crashes.

Sometimes the deskbar-applet crashes "on its own", asking the same question, if it should be reloaded. I removed it from the panel, and it stopped crashing.
Sad, it was the only good enough replacement for Katapult in Gnome.

I don't think it found anything, but, as I type, gnome-panel froze again. And it only happens when the deskbar-applet is running. Don't know what else could be conflicting with it.
What I saw was that, when gnome-panel first froze (while running gdb), it froze while deskbar-applet had an open thread, which closed when I killed gnome-panel.

I found out that the deskbar-applet isn't the responsible for freezing the gnome-panel, it's Pidgin.
I purged the deskbar-applet via synaptic, now I'm going to nuke pidgin. Sorry for the waste of time here.
