Bug Description

Is there a switch anywhere is M10's system settings to turn screen dimming on/off? It can be annoying at times...

You can set the lock timeout to never, or you can use some options with the powerd-cli command line tool.

Hi Pat, thanks for a quick response.
The behavior (screen dimming) Im describing is actually the same as in std. desktop Ubuntu, where it can be turned on/off within System Settings -> Brightness&Lock -> 'Dim screen

...to save power'. This dimming took place omy M10 after approx 50 secs.
Now, hours later, after some toying around, setting things on/off and two reboots, the be dimming is gone....
Even after reboot (to make sure that some settings will not get reset/restoerd, the dimming seems to be defitely gone...

Just for the record, never seen this behaviour on E5.

Well, weird things are happening on Fridays :)

Ok, to teyt further, I re-set the device to its original state.
And although it remains updated to OTA-10.1, the rest was reset.

It seems that the 'dimming' feature is back; display will set itself to the lowest possible backroud lighting state after 50 secs. of inactivity again.

Once I idntify how I turned this 'feature'off last time, I will post it.

Until then, this should be regarded as a bug, since the feature is turned on by default and is nowhere to be controlled by enduser.

Hello,

The setting for screen dimming disappears automatically sometimes from the menu and the brightness doesn't adjust automatically in this case. A restart is enough to make the menu back and the brightness adjust automatically.

I use a Meizu Pro 5 in OTA 11.

@alain I think that should be another bug - please check if there's one open or open it yourself along with steps to reproduce and screenshots if you have them

I can confirm that the only option in which is not dimmed off is i I set the automatic locking in "never" - if I set it in any of the other options, the screen is dimmed before it is actually locked.

ok, Julia I will open a new bug for this. I can be long before I do it since it happens randomly and you would like a screenshot.
