random letters don't display after resume from sleep

Bug Description

When I resume from a long suspend in Xenial, I find that most of the letters do not display. I can copy and paste them into chat windows and people see them on the other side, but they do not show up visibly. The menu items for suspend/shut down/log out usually vanish as well, which makes it hard to find a good solution.

I find that killing my session manager restarts X and everything goes back to normal on next login.

Thank you for your bug report, that's more like an intel driver issue than a compiz bug, e.g similar to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88584

Does it happen after every resume?

affects: compiz (Ubuntu) → xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)

Nick Moffitt, to clarify, did this issue not occur in a Ubuntu release prior to Xenial?

That's correct. And it hadn't happened for a while now but just happened again yesterday.

Nick Moffitt, to further clarify, which previous Ubuntu release precisely did this issue never occur in?

I honestly can't recall exactly. I presume that since I filed this for xenial that it did not happen in wily. Otherwise I would have filed it then.
