Bug Description

I'm running Xenial Xerus 16.04 LTS...but this bug also affected Trusty 14.04. The very fact that Ubuntu recognizes the make and model of the camera is even more infuriating!

Why the heck won't it mount it so I can download and manipulate my photos with programs like Digikam, Shotwell, etcetera?

Gimp can open the files...but of course GIMP is not a photo-management program.

Please resolve and/or tell me which program will communicate with this excellent little digital camera!

I have combed the web for a solution and I am at wits end.

Full Error message:

"Unable to mount Kodak EasyShare Z1285 Zoom Digital Camera

Error initializing camera:-53: Could not claim the USB device"

Thank you for addressing this issue.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.7 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Joseph,

Shotwell seems to be working across 3 Ubuntu machines now. Sometimes I get a false-negative warning about the system not claiming the device...but then the camera shows up somewhere else.

I think I'll skip the Upstream Kernel Test for now.

Thanks,

Richard

Time, upgrades & updates seem to have rectified the problem.
