Shutdown doesn't work on Acer Aspire s7 191 after upgrade from trusty

After upgrade from ubuntu 14.04.2 to 16.04 on Acer Aspire s7 191 , power shutdown does not work anymore by clicking on "shutdown" option on menu. The system perform the shutdown process but fails to perform power shutdown .
shutdown -h now doesn't work either . systemctl start poweroff.target , instead, can successfully power off the system .

solved - some processes loaded from /etc/rc.local were not killed by the shutdown process .

According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#Suspend_and_Hibernate, refiling this report against the kernel is the way to go for now.
