Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
I upgraded to kubuntu 7.10 through adept-manager standard upgrade method as described on the kubuntu.org web page.
In the final stages of the upgrade, X died and i ended up back at kdm login screen. Logged back in, system seemed ok and some updates had already gone through, but now however, if i go to adept and update packages it installs the new packages fine but then tells me at the end that there is a version upgrade available.
If I click on version upgrade it launches the update tool (as before) and goes through the motions until i get up to/past stage 2, then i get the following:
"Your system is up-to-date. There are no upgrades available for your system. The upgrade will now be cancelled"
I have no idea which packages failed to install, and dpkg/apt doesn't say anything is broken, but this is really bugging. I have seen other bugs *like* this one, but not exactly the same, thus I have raised a new bug report.
Please let me know if I can help any more!
Thanks!
This silly "Claytons" adept update bug is also present with a new install, as well as the 82% install freeze bug.
Two new fundamentally disturbing bugs in an otherwise fine release that is really still beta I think, though not as beta as Vista.
