Bug Description

Hi,

The wireless LED light(wireless status) does not work correctly on 7.10 in my Dell 640m laptop. After wifi function disabled, wireless LED still keep blinking at interval of 2 seconds. I have done a quick test by enabling and then disabling the wireless function in knetworkmanager. Surprisingly, the LED kept blinking even much more quickly without stop(go crazy...)after the wireless function disabled. I had to restart the system. it now keeps blinking at interval of 2 seconds as usual after the system is rebooted.

I always turn wireless off to save power if the wireless function is not used. My laptop has no hardware switch to indicate wireless status, so the LED light is the only hardware to indicate the wireless status. I am using Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG and 2.6.22 on gutsy with all updates.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi hk88s,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . Please then run following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` 157418

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
