Intermittent screen flicker on Dell XPS 13 (9350)

After upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04, I have been noticing intermittent screen flickers where the screen blacks out 2-3 times every couple of minutes for about a quarter of a second or so. This is running the stock kernel that came with the release (4.4.0-21).
