ResourceChain doesn't manage its resources properly in update

Bug Description

It references self.properties directly, but it doesn't contain the correct just yet at that point. We need to reupdate them.

    Fix properties usage in ResourceChain update

    ResourceChain was using the old properties when trying to build the new
    template in updates. Let's rebuild the properties so that it works
    properly.
