Bug Description

The package search web page shows that this is a real problem, not due to an
inconsistent mirror.

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
  libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal: Depends: libsasl2-modules (= 2.1.22.dfsg1-12) but 2.1.22.dfsg1-9ubuntu2 is to be installed

It is enough to just rebuild the package and change the dependency. I did that and I add it as attachment.

This bug was fixed in the package cyrus-sasl2-heimdal - 2.1.22.dfsg1-16ubuntu2

---------------
cyrus-sasl2-heimdal (2.1.22.dfsg1-16ubuntu2) hardy; urgency=low

  * No change rebuild to fix unmet dependencies:
    + cyrus-sasl2-heimdal-dbg (LP: #145529).
    + libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal (LP: #157035).
    As cyrus-sasl2-heimdal uses ${binary:Version} and ${source:Version) to
specify dependencies on packages build by cyrus-sasl2, both cyrus-sasl2
and cyrus-sasl2-heimdal need to have the same version (which is the case
    in Debian).
This upload brings both package versions into sync again for Ubuntu (and
    skips -16ubuntu1 therefore).
  * debian/control:
+ Modify Maintainer value to match DebianMaintainerField spec.

Another work-around: the package can be downloaded to the harddrive (http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libs/libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal) and installed as follows:

sudo dpkg -i --ignore-depends=libsasl2-modules libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal_2.1.22.dfsg1-12_<ARCHITECTURE>.deb

This does, however, have the unfortunate side-effect of causing Synaptic to complain whenever you try to install new packages.

To keep Synaptic/aptitude from complain, edit /var/lib/dpkg/status, and remove the libsasl2-modules from the list of dependencies for libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal. For safety, I recommend duplicating the original line, commenting out the original with a "#" and then editing the duplicate.
