Thanks Doug. Here totem displays 1 channel (rai.tv) on Unity or GNOME, installed the grilo extra plugins brings 3 extra ones (guardian/apple/euronews), same under Unity or GNOME session.

Could you list the ones that you see under GNOME and not Unity?

@Tim, your recent grilo-plugins creates a regression there. Downgrading restore "apple trailer" as available with the base set, the update seems to move it to extras?

Changed in totem (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → High
status: New → Incomplete

Ok - I see what was up. I was checking in a live session of gnome &
failed to notice or look if the extra plugins were installed. Seems
ubuntu-gnome includes them, ubuntu doesn't.
The other reason was prior to checking ubuntu-gnome I had looked in
synaptic at grilo, the description for the extras plugins package lists
9, none of which seem to relate to the missing channels.
Those are listed in the grilo base package's control file.

(- seems both package's control files should be edited to reflect what
is actually provided not what once, at some point or another, provided.

I do get a 5th channel in ubuntu with the extras package - MyMedia
though not too sure it has any value as it never returns any actual
results, at least in an ubuntu session

Changed in totem (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → New
affects: totem (Ubuntu) → grilo-plugins (Ubuntu)

Right, I didnt realise the lua stuff was in extra, thought it was in -base (it probably should be moved at some point). And probably I should have filed a FFe for lua changes, maybe I will just revert it back to 0.2.16 which shouldnt have those changes.

Would reverting go back to the pre-lua-apple-trailer? If so that would be an option. Otherwise we could consider trying to move lua to the main binary, that lib is already on the default installation though 5.2 where the plugins uses 5.3, ideally we would only have one version

If I remember right apps that use lua-5.2 cannot use 5.3 without
modification so 5.2 has to stay.
(both libs can co-exist
Maybe just make the package descriptions accurate & the extra plugins a
recommend or suggest

actually apple trailers was removed in .15 so that won't work, but I could revert the standalone plugin easy enough
lastfm coverart plugin (required only for gnome-music) will only will in .17 apparently.
