Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdeaccessibility

This is related to 153024, 99356, but since those don't have appropriate project assignation I'm opening this new bug.

Unless I pkill accessx, periodically I get repeating keystrokes. This happens most often in firefox when I press ctrl + t, to open a new tab, which means that firefox goes weak at the knees opening 20 or so tabs. Sometimes the mouse will decide that it has to reach the top of the screen, and I can't do anything. Sometimes the keyboard stops working.

It is definitely accessx at fault, because once I pkill it, all of these problems stop intermittently happening.

This is on gutsy; it never happened under feisty.

Sorry, I totally misfiled this. kaccess, not accessx. I guess my coffee hadn't kicked in.

I've been following along with 99356, and I have to say that killing kaccess has no bearing on my problem whatsoooooooooooooooooever. As evidenced in the preceding sentence ;-)

I'm having this on hardy, but do not have it on gutsy. There does not appear to be any running program called "kaccess" and trying to kill such gives an error:

kaccess: no process killed

This is really driving me nuts, and I'm tying to decide whether to give up on hardy altogether. So far, the only way I find to stop it is logout / login.

Any ideas?

Thanks for reporting this. Can you confirm if this is a problem in Jaunty 9.10 please? If so, please have a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKDE and provide the requested information and any files as separate attachments.
The reason the other users will not have this problem is possibly because they are not using the accessibility features.
Thank you.
