Bug Description

I just got the ThinkPad today and since it is shipped without an OS I cannot guaranty that the TouchPad works at all. I think however it is a problem with the Ubuntu 14.04. installation.

Hi, thanks for the quick response. I am able to run the command, but I get the error or warning that dpkg-query did not find a package suitable for linux. After that I get to send an error report.

I have not done any other changes, but somehow the touchpad is now recognized and working. I had to install python-apport before running the command. Could that have changes anything? I will now try to restart the computer to check if it is still working then.

Before that I will add once more the three files from the beginning. Maybe that helps in case it stops to work after the reboot.

Even after the reboot everything is working fine. While I am very happy that the problem seems to be solved, I would appreciate it if you could give me some kind of explanation or your best guess what went wrong or has changed.

I am encountering the same issue again. The Touchpad is not recognized and I have to use a USB mouse to get any work done. The problem reappeared today after some problems during shut down yesterday.
I will upload the same three files as last time.
The problem was not solved by using an older kernel version (I tried 4.2.0-42-generic and 4.4.0-36-generic).

Still the same problem. This time it is not magically solved after a few restarts. Would be great if someone could have a look at this issue.
