Bug Description

When I boot up a Xerial Xerus Live DVD session (daily-build 04-04-2016), take the default path to booting up, and click on the *button* "Try Ubuntu GNOME" in the dialog box that comes up, I get taken to a GDM prompt where I can't do anything useful. Hitting "Enter" in the password field for "Live Session User" doesn't work, and my attempts to guess the password failed. The "Sign In" button is greyed out and inoperative if no text is put in the password field.

The only real workaround I have is to get to the *text-based* boot menu of the Live DVD (which is not very discoverable!) and choose the item "Try Ubuntu GNOME without installing", which will get me to an autologin session.

The fact you even get the login prompt on boot is another bug likely Bug 1548864
