Same problem here: cannot see the DLNA device in local network.
Started vlc in debug mode :

[00007f0b2057b628] core services discovery debug: looking for services_discovery module matching "upnp": 14 candidates
[00007f0b2057b628] upnp services discovery: Initializing libupnp on '(null)' interface
[00007f0b2057b628] upnp services discovery error: Initialization failed: UPNP_E_SOCKET_BIND
[00007f0b2057b628] core services discovery debug: no services_discovery modules matched
[00007f0b2057b628] core services discovery error: no suitable services discovery module

I'm not sure what is the 'null' interface.
