firefox bogs down in Gutsy Gibbon (7.10) linux

Binary package hint: firefox

Upgraded from Fiesty Fawn to Gutsy Gibbon. Everything else works fine but Firefox works about as fast as if I were in dialup on Windows Vista.

Open a terminal (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) then type:

export MOZ_DISABLE_PANGO=1

I had the problem that scrolling on certain websites was painfully slow with the version of Firefox in Gutsy from the Ubuntu repository, while it worked much faster with the "vanilla" Firefox version from mozilla.com . While searching in Launchpad bug tracker I stumbled upon this report and your hint solves the problem for me, thanks :-)
