Bug Description

In version 1.0.10 of network-manager-gnome shipping with the 16.04 beta, the nm-applet only shows limited info of the currently used network connection, instead of all connections which are defined / available. As such, it's impossible to switch connections manually (or use VPN!), rendering the entire feature useless.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Click on the nm-applet icon
2. Choose "Edit Connections..."
3. Click "Add"
4. Create a static network configuration (i.e. via Ethernet)
Notice that this new connection is listed in the "Network Connections" window.
5. Click 'Close' (and restart your computer if you think this will make a difference)
6. Click on the nm-applet icon again
Notice that the newly created connection does *not* show up in the drop-down menu that appears.

In 14.04 (and before), this feature works as advertised.

I'm unable to connect to VPNs at all because of this. They don't show up in the VPN Connections menu. The VPN Connections menu only shows "Configure VPN..." and the grayed out "Disconnect VPN". Clicking "Configure VPN..." or "Edit Connections..." brings up the window showing that my VPN connection configs do exist.

I no longer have my issue with VPN connections being unavailable. I assume an update fixed it.

My computer is up-to-date and I'm having this issue right now just like Chris Cowan described. I don't remember having problems before though. The VPN menu only shows "Configure VPN..." and a grayed out "Disconnect VPN". I can still use the VPN via command line with "$ nmcli connection up id myvpn" and "$ nmcli connection down id myvpn".
