Bug Description

Screen blanks out to black frequently for no apparent reason no matter how short or long the session. Also, in the items attached below was created using "xdiagnose". It didn't include SDDM.log which I am using but instead LightDM which I am *not* using.

=============================

From Xorg.0.log:

Computer is completely unusable, the bug is critical I think. :(

Kubuntu 16.04 with all updates, nvidia-340 (the same stuff with open drivers),
kkursor@remotehost:~$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218M [GeForce 310M] (rev a2)

Linux remotehost 4.4.0-22-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Thu May 12 22:03:46 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

On my laptop the screen shuts off frequently with same messages in logs, and I noticed - when it's off, when I press any of the F* buttons, the laptop suspends.

Same pb with Kubuntu 16.04. Have nvidea card but not using their driver.

A similar (same?) but is reported "resolved fixed" at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355928, but there is no indication of how to get the fix. I did a dist-upgrade yesterday.

Hello together,

this seems to affect me, too. On Ubuntu 16.4 LTS.

Lots off Syslog lines with:
Feb 2 12:44:01 ws-kollstedt org.kde.KScreen[1925]: kscreen: Primary output changed from KScreen::Output(Id: 638 , Name: "DVI-I-1" ) ( "DVI-I-1" ) to KScreen::Output(Id: 638 , Name: "DVI-I-1" ) ( "DVI-I-1" )

Changes from and to seems to be the same.

Possible side effect, but Im not sure it correlates:
Sometimes the Screen freezes, and after appox 30 seconds the System reboots.

Usually it still works. The toggeling Screen was something i experienced on 2016-11-07, I resolved this by switching to the nvidia-367 package.

Not sure obout the reasons, this looks for me only like the symptoms. ;-)

Kind regards,
