qla2xxx panics when module is loaded

when upgrading from 4.3.0-5 to 4.4.0-15, the system no longer boots, due to kernel panics on the qla2xxx module.

blacklisting this module, updating initrd, corrected this issue as a work around.

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. From a terminal window please run:

apport-collect 1560631

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

cannot run apport due to panics on boot, during initrd before filesystems are mounted/loaded.

I'd like to perform a bisect to figure out what commit caused this regression. We need to identify the earliest kernel where the issue started happening as well as the latest kernel that did not have this issue.

Can you test the following kernels and report back? We are looking for the first kernel version that exhibits this bug:

4.4-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-rc1+cod1-wily/
4.4-rc4: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-rc4-wily/
4.4 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4-wily/

You don't have to test every kernel, just up until the kernel that first has this bug.

This bug may actually be a duplicate of bug 1554003 . Can you test 4.4.0-3 and 4.4.0-4?

If -3 is good and -4 is bad then this probably is a duplicate. I'm already in the process of bisecting the other bug.
