Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Ubuntu Gutsy,

recently received an OpenOffice update and now I am having similar issues to a bug labeled as "fixed". I open Writer and then select 'Page' from the 'Format' menu and the program hangs. This is on a recently updated Distribution of Ubuntu 7.10 and the recent upgrade for Open Office.

I have not tried the other Open Office applications since Writer is the one I use most.

Which gtk theme are you using? You can see this under System -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Theme.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

I do not have a printer at all, but should be able to edit the page for printing anyway without crashing... I could before.

Chris, I have a Custom theme built from Crux.. basically Crux with a different Icon set.

I'm having the exact same problem as Rebel...only the program crashes and exits each time, instead of merely hanging. I need to change the page size parameters for a formal submission and this is very frustrating. I hope this gets resolved soon!

Quick update: Having read the earlier comments, I checked which theme I was using and it was also the 'Crux' theme as previously mentioned. Just out of curiosity, I switched back to the default 'Human' theme and the bug instantly went away and format > page worked perfectly.

Well Ben, I followed your lead and I had success as you did. Hmm so my fav theme is the issue?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 131526, so it is being marked as such. A patch for this has been provided already and an update may be available shortly. The current best workaround seems to be using another Gnome theme, e.g. "Human".
Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find.
