Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Hello,

I run Ubuntu v7.10 (Gutsy).(French version cause I'm French ;-) ) and would like to use the wonderful Compiz-Fuzion without all those problems..
I'm a new user of Linux/GNU OS (Ubuntu has been is installed on my desktop for a few days)
My system: intel p4 1.4Ghz, Nividia GF 5200, 256Mo SDRAM, 40Go HDD.
My Ubuntu is fresh given that I make every update with the update manager.

Issues encountered that I depaint below are known in the community, but remain still unsolved. I think I've tried everything I could before posting here.

The issues:

-the terminal became a big white rectangular
-No frame nor Title bar for ALL windows I open
-Bugs running the multi screen manager: I would like to get a CLone of my main screen on My TV with is connected to the TV-out. same problems running "nvidia-settings" in a terminal windows (blind mode for me, given that terminal window is all blank..)

The solutions I've tried to fix it:

-Editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file adding
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
Option "TripleBuffer" "true"
at the end of the device section of it

-activing the option "décoration des fenetres" (in english it could be "windows frame" or something like that) in the effects section of CCSM (Advanced desktop Effects Settings =>CompizConfig configuration system).

-adding the command line "emerald –replace" or "metacity –replace" in the CCSM =>effects=>"décoration des fenetres"=>general settings.

-udating the system

-asking on forums..

The only solution I've found to Get both the TV-out active and recover Complete windows appearence (Frame+title bar) is to step backward by inactiving Compiz -Fusion : Systeme=>préférences=>apparence=>effets visuels=>normal..

Is this bug still unfixable?

Tell me I've been right, quiting MS Windows...

Thankx for helping !!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
