Freeplane Freezes on Splash Screen

This morning I cannot launch freeplane; it does not proceed past this splash screen:

The issue may be related to this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-7/+bug/1445598

I've had similar issues with "freemind" in the past:

Can someone please confirm this bug? Freeplane is important to my daily work.

this is most probably a duplicate of #1555824

If you are getting the following output then you are bitten by #1555824:

~$ jar tf /usr/share/java/commons-lang.jar | grep StringUtils

org/apache/commons/lang/class-use/RandomStringUtils.html

The root cause is #1556647:

so please increase the "heat" by declaring yourself as being affected!

Meanwhile please download the binary distribution [1], extract it and run ./freeplane.sh from within.
