Bug Description
Release:
Ubuntu 15.10
Package:
indicator-power 12.10.6+
Expected:
When an iPad is connected to a USB port of a laptop computer, one normally expects only a device icon on the Unity Launcher and a possible popup window asking for what action to take or a file manager window displaying the device contents. Display of iPad battery status and details should not take the place of laptop battery status on Unity Launcher and/or have priority over it as iPad itself displays its battery status on its screen already, and it's not the primary reason for connecting it to laptop computer.
Instead:
In addition to the normal and expected behavior mentioned above, the power indicator also replaces the icon for the laptop battery status on Unity Panel with one for connected iPad's battery status, and furthermore, making things worse, it shows a "missing icon" image when the iPad is charging. This inappropriate prioritization is also reflected on the power menu displayed when the power indicator is clicked, showing "Computer" on top of "Battery".
Clicking on the "Computer" menu item brings the "Power Statistics" window, where the "Details" for it reads:
Device: computer_2_1x3
Type: Computer
Vendor: Apple_Inc.
Model: iPad
(and some more -irrelevant- data)
