Bug Description

The music app stops working on my Aquaris E4.5. Right after the start the application freezes. Please see the logs here:

http://paste.ubuntu.com/15355891/
http://paste.ubuntu.com/15355936/

I first suspected that the size of my music library could be a problem (around 20 GB on the sdcard) but i removed the card and copied only one album on the phone directly. But the application still freezes on start.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Could you try to remove the following directory: ~/.config/com.ubuntu.music/

If that fixes the issue, it sounds like this is a duplicate of bug 1530721.

Changed in music-app:
status: New → Incomplete

Actually, before you do that could you save the contents of the following file:

~/.config/com.ubuntu.music/com.ubuntu.music.conf

If this does fix your issue, then it'll be helpful to know what in that file might be causing issues.

Thank you!

I also wonder if providing our localstorage db (~/.local/share/com.ubuntu.music/Databases/) and the mediascanner2 database (~/.cache/mediascanner-2.0/mediastore.db) may assist further. (Please note that providing these two databases may reveal information about music/pictures/video on your device, if you don't want to share them publicly feel free to contact me or Victor directly).

With these two databases in addition to the com.ubuntu.music.conf we can get a whole picture of what is:
- in the queue
- in the mediascanner2 store
- in the settings (restore queueIndex)

As the music-app log doesn't seem to display any errors, so something must be silently passing in a scenario we have not thought of.

In the other bug I suspected that it might be due to tracks being auto-removed from the queue due to them being removed from the device and then the restore index being too high, but was not able to reproduce this on my device.
