calculator app hang forever in start screen on Ubuntu Touch

Bug Description
When try to start the calculator application on my Aquaris E4.5 device only the "start screen" (white background with calculator icon and forever spinning circle) appears and nothing else happens. See attached screenshot.
The device is running "Ubuntu 15.04-armhf (20160217-111536)" "OTA-9.1"

I found a stale .lock file in
/home/phablet/

After removing the .lock file the calculator starts again.
