Gutsy: Black Screen, no control when some things open/close

Bug Description

I've noticed this when I exit some full-screen programs/games and when I open the "nvidia-settings" window. The screen turns black, and the mouse will still move and sound will still play, but the screen is totally black and it will not resolve, nor will Control Alt Backspace fix it! The only way is to kill the power!

My system:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (2Ghz 64 bit dual-core)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT PCI Express 16x
Motherboard: ASUS A8V-E SE
RAM: 2x Kingston 512MB (don't know anything else, sorry...)
Screen: LCD Samsung SyncMaster 940BF (2ms response, 1280x1024 19")
HD: Main: Seagate 300GB 7200RPM SATA II, Backup (internal): Western Digital 8GB IDE (quite old, works great ;)), Backup (external): Toshiba 20GB laptop (USB connection)

If you need more info, just ask ;)

Sorry I could not respond sooner - I was away.

I have noticed that in Hardy Heron, the black screen does occasionally appear for a brief second, but disappears right away, so this is no longer a problem! As for gutsy, I never did figure out the cause, but like most things around here someone did and put it in the newest version, continuing once more to make Ubuntu better :)

However, I do have some changes to make to the system info:

Motherboard: nForce 4 SLI-Pro (from Gigabyte)
RAM: 4x Kingston 512MB (HyperX brandname, 184 pin DIMM (using 4 of 4) 400Mhz (PC3200) DDR SDRAM)
