Bug Description

Since about 2 days, trying to switch to Wikipedia's picture of the day fails with messages 'Today's picture of the day is not available'
and 'There was a problem trying to download what you requested. Check your Internet connection." My Internet connection is working fine.

I am using wallch 4.0 on Ubuntu 15.10.

Seems like the backend downloading and uploading images is not too reliable. Would it make sense to create another mirror doing the same and fallback to it if the first fails to provide today's POTD?

I volunteer to run such backend on my VPS, but I would need the script or what you are running and some modification of the code, I guess.

Jakub

I have had this same issue for a couple of years. It has not been irritating enough for me to make it known before now, but it seems like it should be a simple fix. I am using Wallch 4.0 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Moreover, I recently reinstalled my OS due to a system crash. Wallch 4.0 picture of the day feature has never worked on it, but it used to work on my previous install back in 2016. Perhaps an update broke it.
