Bug Description
Hi,
the following was initially reported in Debian at https:/
Since recently (probably since wicd 1.7.4, maybe already also since 1.7.3), wicd seems to disconnect the network if the wicd-daemon is restarted. Depending on the settings, it reconnects afterwards, so the severity ranges from minor (in my case with statically assigned IPs by the DHCP server) to severe (in the original reporter's case where he got a different IP afterwards), depending on the environment.
Such a connection loss should not happen and in the past for a long time was one of the advantages of wicd over NetworkManager. (In the meanwhile, NetworkManager got fixed, so they were even until recently in that regards.)

This has likely been introduced by the commit at https:/ /bazaar. launchpad. net/~wicd- devel/wicd/ experimental/ revision/ 851
According to the commit message, the change was on purpose: "Change default behaviour: now wicd kills connections when is shutdown. This behaviour can be overriden with -c/--keep- connection (to the daemon)."
