Bug Description

OTA-9.1 on bq e4.5 but the issue was visible in previous OTA and maybe even before.
Even though I have more than 2 contacts marked as favorite, the Favorite Contacts part of Today scope displays only first 2 of them. When I tap on 'Favorite Contacts >', the Contacts scope opens where I can see all my fav contacts.

Hi Michael,

Can you please here the version of the Today scope and the version of the Contacts scope you have installed?

(I have not been able to reproduce this. I have multiple favorite contacts and they all display in the Today scope.)

Hi Kyle,

I'm not to sure how to check scope versions but using "click list | grep scopes", I get:

com.canonical.scopes.contacts 0.9
com.canonical.scopes.day 1.2
com.canonical.scopes.dashboard 4.1.0

and other not related scopes

Yes I am. My initial description is about how it should work by making a comparison. My favorite contacts section is showing only two contacts and does not scroll sideways.

I entered the command Michael mentioned and it returned the same version numbers as michael.

I am on a Meizu MX4

Hi guys,

So I seem to have the same versions of the today scope and the contacts scope installed (and I can't yet reproduce):
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ click list | grep 'contact\|dash'
com.canonical.scopes.contacts 0.9
com.canonical.scopes.dashboard 4.1.0

Note: at the moment, my phone is using an rc-proposed install (with silo 54) installed.

Let's ensure all seems well with Today scope and Contacts scope to start with.

1) You both should *definitely* in Today scope be able to TAP on the "Favorite Contacts" header and that should navigate you to the Contacts *scope* (not the Contacts app). I will add two screen shots showing exactly what I mean.

2) If you can do that navigation, both Today scope and Contacts scope Favorites should display the *same* contacts.

3) Perhaps the Contacts scope does not show all your favorite contacts? That is, the Contacts scope Favorite Contacts *should* be the same as the Contacts *app* favorites. If this is not the case, then the Contacts scope may be at fault.

I think you may have misunderstood.

The contacts scope is fine.

The today scope shows only two favorite contacts, even though more than two favorite contacts exist. The today scope used to be able to slide the favorite contacts section sideways to show more favorite contacts, just like the news section can, just a little further down on the today scope.
Tapping the section title does bring up the contacts scope, but that is not what we mean.

Hi Hugo,

Sorry if I misunderstood. I think you are saying that the today scope does not let you browse your favorite contacts by sliding the carousel left and right while still in the Today scope.

So, the hypothesis I am working on is that the Today scope is not displaying all of your favorite contacts because the Contacts scope does not display them either. When there are only a couple contacts, they do not display in Today scope in a slidable widget. They just display statically (not in a carousel).

Therefore, I think the next debugging step is to determine whether the Contacts scope actually knows about all of your favorite Contacts.

So:

* If you, in Today scope, and you tap "Favorite Contacts": does it navigate you to the Contacts scope?

* Are the favorite contacts shown here the same as the favorite contacts displayed in the Contacts *app*?

* Are the favorite contacts shown here the same as shown in the Today scope?

1. Yes, when I tap 'favorite contacts' it does gets me to 'contacts' scope.
2. All the contacts in 'contacts' scopes are the same as favorite contacts in Contacts app.
3. Only the first 2 contacts from favorites are displayed in the Today scope. And yes, they are the same.

For a test I removed all favorites from Contacts app. Then added few back but the problem is still the same.

OK, this seems real. I will need to install stable/released code and see if I can reproduce. thanks for the patience Michal and Hugo.

In the meantime, Michal: can you get and attach this file:
/custom/click/.click/users/@all/com.canonical.scopes.dashboard/dashboard/child_scopes.json

Michal, it should be right at the top of the directory tree:
/custom.

Can you please run this command on your device and provide the output:
$ system-image-cli -i

Thanks!
