`dpkg` removal routine of `dcbd` (triggered by `sudo apt-get install -f`) fails due to `update-rc.d: error: no runlevel symlinks to modify, aborting!`.

No, only updates are possible, not installations and removals.

Workaround: edit `/etc/init.d/dcbd` and remove `network` from the `# Required-Start:` header. Then run `sudo update-rc.d dcbd defaults` and `sudo apt-get install -f` to remove `dcbd`.

The problem is that there's no `initd` service `network`.

The only problem is that network should be $network, which has not been fixed on upstream (Intel) latest version https://sourceforge.net/projects/e1000/files/DCB%20Tools/0.9.24/.
