[SRU] Unable to authenticate with SIP server

I am not a Twinkle user, neither I have much knowledge about SIP, I am creating this bug reported because I got a request for help by providing a new package with a patch supplied by Twinkle's author sent to an user which was not able to authenticate with it's SIP server.
I will be proposing the patch inclusion into -updates since it is simple patch and may and resolves a show stopper problem.

I think this is fine for an SRU (motu-uvf hat on). Please resubmit with the
autotools cruft stripped from the debdiff. Also:

twinkle (1:1.0.1-1build3) gutsy

Should be:

twinkle (1:1.0.1-1ubuntu0.1) gutsy-proposed

The eventual upload to Hardy would be:

twinkle (1:1.0.1-1ubuntu1) hardy

Whoever sponsors this, please take care to upload to Hardy when it opens.

The only relevant part of the patch is the diff applied to src/parser/request.cpp , that should be sufficient for the patch reviewer, doing myself the changes that someone will review would be redundant effort.

Can you please provide a patch for hardy too?
Concerning the patch, what evidence we have about its validity? A reference to a VCS patch would be perfect (I could not find any reference upstream myself).

I've no idea about the use of this patch (neither about SIP), let's see if João Pinto can provide more information.
