closing this as invalid. This is unrelated to gcc-3.3-base. Please reopen with a complete upgrade log if you still think it's a bug in gcc-3.3-base.

I ran into the same issue on my upgrade.

I don't understand why this was closed just because it's not related to gcc-3.3 base. it's a bug in Ubuntu that needs to be fixed, and this is where -Ubuntu's- problem reporting system brings us to report the issue. It shouldn't matter if the bug is in package X or Y, it's obviously an issue somewhere...

I should add that I upgraded using the 'Update manager' which downloaded the packages and installed them automatically. I did not upgrade from CD. I was running 7.10 and upgraded to 8.04.

Jeremy Akers,

Here is the error from your term log:
Setting up gcc-3.3-doc (1:3.3.6-15ubuntu4) ...
sh: cannot open /usr/share/info/gcc-3.3.info.gz: No such file
install-info(/usr/share/info/gcc-3.3.info.gz):
dpkg: error processing gcc-3.3-doc (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2

Closing this bug since you also reported this issue as bug #222876 and this has already been fixed in hardy-updates.

Changed in release-upgrader-dpkg:
