Bug Description

The Ubuntu Device Database app from the System tools menu dies on the Video page. This occurs on my desktop (Intel DL865-GLC motherboard) as well as on my laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505n).

I Confirm this issue on Gutsy with a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop and Intel 965 on board graphic.

What Device Database? Do you mean System -> Preferences -> Hardware Information?

No, this is found at Applications -> System Tools -> Ubuntu Device Database.

What extra package are you installing? Don't see this menu option on default installation.

Sorry, Jose - a default install doesn't show the System Tools menu off of Applications. To enable it, go to System -> Preferences -> Main Menu. You should find System Tools toward the bottom of the list. Click on it and then, in the right-hand pane, click the Show checkbox for Ubuntu Device Database (along with any others that look interesting). One you exit Main Menu, you should now be able to see the System Tools menu.

This "hang up" on the video test page is not specific to Dell systems.

This bug is a duplicate of bug 17595 for which there will and updated Gutsy package shortly. The package is currently in the -proposed repository but it has passed SRU verification.
