Ability to define own text styles

By now there is only a possibility to use predefined text styles. I'd like to have a function to define own text styles which could allow me to mark important things in red and bold, Warnings with a yellow background, additional information blue and underlined and so on.

The reason that this is not supported is that we use a limited wiki text format to store notes. So far I have not seen a good proposal how to extend the wiki syntax with custom styles while at the same time keeping the text files readable.
