Bug Description

Lubuntu 16.04 when the task bar is set to auto hide and selected, you only have about 2 seconds to select a wifi setting or vpn before it auto hides.

Checked Lubuntu 14.04 for the same bug and there was no issues.

Work around right click on the panel -> panel settings in the advancd tab unclick minimize panel when not in use. Connect to wifi network or vpn then reset minimize panel when not in use.

A better work around is to click on the panel network icon and not move the mouse, use the keyboard arrows to highlight the item you want to select then press enter. This way you do not have to disable autohide each time.

There's a ticket opened for this annoying bug in LXDE Sourceforge Bug Tracker.

I can't add it here because Launchpad doesn't recognize the link.

This bug is still present in Lubuntu 17.10. Can't work the volume or the WiFi with the mouse.

Another workaround is to use the keyboard. Click on the desired icon on the taskbar, and leave the mouse pointer over the taskbar. Use the arrow keys, starting with up arrow, to navigate the volume or WiFi controls and menus.
