Bug Description

On my machine logout takes too long time and eventually fails. Syslog or /var/log/lightdm doesn't give something very useful. From syslog only error I find is:

Feb 19 22:15:57 Saturnica gnome-session[1162]: gnome-session-binary[1162]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Feb 19 22:15:57 Saturnica gnome-session-binary[1162]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed......

I can reproduce this in both Gnome-shell and Unity7. I attaching the part of the syslog. If more information is required I will provide it.

Gnome-session: 3.18.1.2-1ubuntu1
Systemd: 229-4ubuntu4

Same here. Been banging my head for months and couldn't find the reason or fix. Reinstalled everything from scratch and still the same. The last strings in log files were:

Syslog (repeated at least 10 times):
g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Oct 27 09:52:39 Asgard gnome-session-binary[6607]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

Authlog:
Oct 27 09:52:39 Asgard polkitd(authority=local): Unregistered Authentication Agent for unix-session:c8 (system bus name :1.698, object path /org/gnome/PolicyKit1/AuthenticationAgent, locale sl_SI.UTF-8) (disconnected from bus)

I think I found the cause. I accidentally forgot to install diodon clipboard manager and machine logout instantly.

Khurshid, can you check if you have didon installed and if removing it helps?

That's it. Diodon was indeed the culprit. But why does a simple clipboard manager behave like that? Is it trying to clear cache before session logout? Or something else?

I can reproduce only with systemd. It works fine with upstrart. May we should file a bug in diodon.

It appears this is an old bug:

And it was fixed. The problem is, Ubuntu repo has old version.

Thanks. It seems installing from the daily PPA fixes the problem. Marking this as invalid.
