I renamed the title because what you had before wasn't what the user reported. He was saying that BleachBit tries to open .exe files before shredding them.

Cannot replicate on BleachBit 1.10 and Windows 7

I cannot replicate this on my Windows 10 system, either. I think the user might just have had a bad installation, which I know is usually rare in BleachBit's case.

On Windows 10 64-bit with BleachBit 1.10 I placed a file on my desktop called DeleteMe.exe and shredded it with Bleachbit using the context menu. I did not see any problems.

Unless I can reproducible it, it is hard to fix it. Because this has not been reported before, it seems this may be an idiosyncrasy of one system. It could indicate a corruption in the Windows registry.

I am offering a bounty because it would be easy for a third party to do and it is not urgent. I am hoping to find some good contractors to work with on a more regular basis, and this is a good project to get them started with.
