Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

during an upgrade from feisty to gutsy, the following problem occurs:

"Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report."

Then the upgrade stops.

My fault it's no longer a duplicate of 46245.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

It's not an issue for me any more. I can't recall now exactly
what the fix was -- I think I had to delete some problematic
package(s) on the old Ubuntu system to get the upgrade to work.

However, "Can you try with latest Ubuntu release?" is not really
the right question since the problem was precisely that I could
not upgrade!

(BTW, I know how difficult it is to make a full-scale, in-place
update work flawlessly, and I'm very impressed with how well it
does work under Ubuntu.)
