Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I recently upgraded from Kubuntu 7.04 to Kubuntu 7.10 by using the process listed on the kubuntu website (adept updater). After the upgrade and reboot, the update manager continues to say that a version upgrade is available, but when I click on it, it says that all is up to date.
I went through and made sure the fiesty backport repositories were removed and that the "pre-release" checkbox was not marked.

Changed in update-manager:
status: New → Confirmed

Additional confirm. With an update to tzdata that came out adept manager wanted to continue down the path of an update. Listed all of the files then declared me up to date and allowed me to cancel.

Confirmed another time. Adept Updater and Apept Manager on Kubuntu keep nagging me about a distribution upgrade.

I also noticed that Adept Manager shows an orange distribution upgrade button in the toolbar now instead of the previous blue one, but that may be an unrelated theme change.

I can confirm this bug on new clean install of Gutsy. I did not distribution upgrade from RC, I did new clean install and only migrates home directory.

I can confirm again on 2 separate systems. On one system update-manager kept crashing due to running out of apt cache space (i had a couple of extra sources in sources.list) irrespective of what I tried to change the settings to. Had to delete the extra sources and complete this on the command line using dist-upgrade etc. On the other it went OK but both systems now repeatedly offer the upgrade and fail with an error "Your system is up to date"
