Application switcher (alt-tab) shows wrong behaviour on 'escape'

The compiz application switcher does not behave correctly when I press the 'escape' key.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Press Alt-Tab to activate the application switcher. Hold down the Alt key.
2. Press Escape.

Expected result:
The application switcher should disappear, the window that was focused before Alt-Tab was pressed should retain focus. (This is what metacity does.)

Actual result:
The application switcher disappears (as expected), but the window that was selected at the time Escape was pressed gets the focus.

This was produced with the gutsy live CD on a Samsung X20 XVM 1730 V laptop (Intel 915 graphics controller). "Extra" desktop effects were enabled.

The shift switcher (Super-Tab) shows the same behaviour. I will file a separate bug report for that. Please mark as duplicate if applicable.

same behaviour here, doesn't matter if press or not Escape, always get the focus the last window selected in the switcher.

Please also see my comment (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/154371/comments/3) in bug 154371. I believe these are closely related or both are symptoms of the same underlying issue.

I've tried to recreate this bug using Hardy Heron and compiz version 1:0.7.0-0ubuntu1. However, I was unable to as pressing the Escape key returned the focus to the application I was originally using. Pedro also confirmed this behavior and subsequently we are marking this bug Fix Released. Thanks!
