in xubuntu: update-manager crash wile try to download upgrade

Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

i try tu upgrade from xubuntu 7.04 to 7.10 with adaptec.. when i fench upgrade, many time the sistem fade to black and come back to the log in.

my sistem "fade to black" and come back to the log in or some application close by their initiavive...

xbuntu is installed on a HP pavilion zv5000
