Bug Description

Hi,
I have an ATI/Xinerama/VNC/Dummy config that causes X to hard crash when it starts.

Chipset

(--) RADEON(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY (AGP)" (ChipID = 0x4c59)

9: /usr/bin/X11/X(FontFileCompleteXLFD+0x1e1) [0x8076241]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

This crash does not occur if I use the Vesa driver instead (for the real GFX card).

Seems to be confirmed with the same backtrace on ATI Radeon 7500 QW (AGP/PCI) in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/132716/comments/31

The problem is you are trying to set up zaphod mode with a driver that doesn't support it. displayconfig-gtk is doing the wrong thing; use xrandr to configure 6.7.192.

I think this bug has run out of date. I have no displayconfig-gtk any longer either.
