Nice find. Tagged as medium importance, as it has some impact to BleachBit's capabilities.

I tested with BleachBit 1.11.0 on Windows 10. On the desktop I created a folder called "Cyrillic" and added a few with Cyrillic characters.

Test#1:
I clicked File - Shred Files.
The preview and delete were file

Test #2:
I clicked File - Shred Folder, and picked the folder.
The preview had ??? characters instead of Cyrillic, and the delete failed.

Are you clicking File - Shred Folder too?

To clarify, in test #1 the results were fine. There were no errors in test #1, so this error was specific to test #2.

I wish I could always fix all the bugs, but I am rescheduling because there are already 24 fixes ready for BleachBit version 1.12, so I do not want to delay the fixes that are ready.

Would you please test BleachBit 1.13 alpha 1 which has fixes specially for Unicode filenames?

I have not heard back, so I assume this is fixed. If user5412 is still listening, then please also try the latest development build from http://ci.bleachbit.org/ .

As mentioned earlier, after BleachBit 1.12 there were many fixes related to UTF-8 filenames for Windows.

Another helpful feature is drag and drop. While the Windows context menu ("right click") may not support Unicode file names, these files can be dropped onto the BleachBit application to shred them.
