Bug Description

Description
---------
After upgrade from 7.04 to Gusty, sometimes I encounter this problem.

I can't type any letter in nautilus. At first, i notice this issue when i try to rename some file. Nautilus change the name of file into "Input Box", looks like waiting for your input. However, I can't type any word in it.
If this thing happen, i also notice that i can't type in the "Path input box" either.

Loging out and relogin can solove this issue.

To reproduce
--------
1.Install 7.10.
2.Well, try to rename... I dont have good idea to reproduce it.

My config
-------
Ubuntu 7.04 upgrade to 7.10. I start to upgrade after RC was released and keep upgrading packages.
I use SCIM as my Input Method since i need to input Chinese.

Misc
---
I also found another post talking similar issue.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in nautilus.

To solve this bug, click right mouse button, and click Input Method and choose SCIM. So you can type in SCIM.

But I think it is very serious bug, because every people who are using SCIM could be meet this problem. And maybe some of them could not found Input Method in Menu, to solve this problem.

Same problem here. When Korean users select default language to korean in language-selector, input method environments were set like this.

Quote in `im-switch -l`

The system wide default is pointed by "/etc/alternatives/xinput-ko_KR" .
xinput-ko_KR - status is auto.
 link currently points to scim
scim - priority 50
scim-immodule - priority 0
scim-hangul - priority 45
scim-hangul_xim - priority 40
nabi - priority 50
Current `best' version is scim.

$ cat /etc/alternatives/xinput-ko_KR
#
# Use "X input Method" for all applications
#
# Per Ming's Documentation in SCIM, XIM Input Method is activated
# not only for old X-applications but also for GTK and QT appplication.
#
# If a user wish to use, GTK Input Method, (s)he can right-click input
# area and select "Input Methods" and change from "X input Method" to
# "SCIM Input Method".
#

XIM=SCIM
XIM_PROGRAM=/usr/bin/scim
XIM_ARGS="-d"
GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
QT_IM_MODULE=xim
DEPENDS="scim,scim-anthy|scim-canna|scim-chewing|scim-pinyin|scim-hangle|scim-prime|scim-skk|scim-tables-additional|scim-m17n|scim-uim|scim-tables-ja|scim-tables-ko|scim-tables-zh"

As we can see, default input module for gtk(nautilus) is xim. And current problem occur only when using xim input module.

workaround,
1. change input module in input field(right click) to scim
2. change input module through im-switch permanantly. For Korean, choose 'scim-hangul' instead of 'scim'(default)
$ im-switch -s scim-hangul

I confirmed this bug when using xim input module for GTK_IM_MOUDLE.

Using "im-switch -s scim-immodule" is better. I plan to remove
the "scim-hangul" im-switch setting in hardy.
