Bug Description

I can't get sound to work in swf. I've installed (repeatedly) flashplugin-nonfree v9, but although the video portion works fine, there's no sound. Sound works correctly (as far as I've been able to determine) in all other apps. I'm using a Gateway MT6459 AMD Turion 64X2 running 64-bit Gutsy, with an ATI Radeon Express 1150 soundcard.

I'm having the same problem. No sound with Firefox 2.0.0.8 and flashplugin-nonfree v9 on 64-bit Ubuntu v.7.10 'Gutsy'. nspluginwrapper and alsa-oss are installed. Most other apps play sound fine. I've reinstalled, tried launching firefox with aoss, edited /etc/firefox/firefoxrc and put FIREFOX_DSP="aoss", installed pulseaudio, etc., etc. Nothing I've tried so far works.

I have an AMD 64 Athlon 64 3500+ processor and the motherboard is a ECS RS-482_M.
The on-board AC '97 sound just wouldn't work with Ubuntu at all, so I installed a Ensoniq ES1370 [AudioPCI] and disabled the on-board sound support in the bios and all my other apps work fine with it.

I have since tried swiftweasel-2.0.0.8_athlon64-64bit_ubuntu-AMD64.deb and still no sound in Flash.

About:config in Swiftweasel shows:

Shockwave Flash

    File name: /var/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so
    Shockwave Flash 9.0 r48

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes

So, whatever this is, it looks like it is more likely the plugin itself or the way the sound is supposed to be routed, or maybe a bug in Alsa, but I'm just guessing.

Looking into this a little further, here is the output of nspluginwrapper -l on my Gutsy 64 box

Still no audio, although the video works fine on sites like youtube.com.

Hope this gets fixed soon. I see several other bug reports that look similar to this one.

I finally got the flashplugin-nonfree to work, with audio, in Firefox64 on Ubuntu64 Gutsy. I had to resort to installing and configuring PulseAudio and a somewhat kludgy PulseAUdio 'libflashsupport' package, and also involving copying a missing dependency from, a feisty32 system with libasyncns0 installed from /usr/lib/ libasyncns.so.0.0.0 to my Ubuntu64 box /usr/lib32/libasyncns.so.0.0.0 and making a symlink to it to /usr/lib32/libasyncns.so.0.

See thread:

Gutsy64 Flash9 on Firefox64 with sound, Finally! With PulseAudio!!!
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=617142

I don't know as I call it 'solved' but, for myself, it is at least somewhat 'triaged' and is working nicely now.
It works in Swiftweasel now , too.

I have the exact same problem described here, no sound on flash movies in Firefox with Ubuntu Gusty AMD64...
Guess I'll have to try installing pulse audio...
