Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
Ubuntu Feisty with all the updates:
Xorg 7.2.0 on Linux 2.6.20-16-generic, AMD Atlhon64 X2 5800+ with 3GB of RAM. Two video cards, an integrated ATI Radeon X1250 and a PCI Mach64 Rage Pro AIW:
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Unknown device 791e
03:06.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage Pro (rev 5c)
I'm using a multiseat configuration. It works fine, mostly. One problem is that the screens in the second screen (mach64) shifts right and wraps around at seemingly random times, mostly a few seconds after initialization. Looking with Google I found a similar problem (http://<email address hidden>
echo "some random text">/dev/console
to produce a complete rotation back to the original position. I'm running at 1152x864, 75Hz refresh rate, but if I change to, say 1280x1024, 60Hz the effect remains the same.
My Xorg.conf is as follows:
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf(5) manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
