Bug Description

when trying to add the following xfce4 panel plugins, either with a drag-n-drop or using the add button, they don't apear on the panel:
xfce4-mixer-plugin
xfce4-netload-plugin
xfce4-systemload-plugin

How to reproduce:
1. Right-click on the panel
2. choose "ajoutez un nouvel élément" ( french for "add a new item")
3. in the list, choose "Network Monitor"
4. click on the "ajouter" button (french for "add")
5. Nothing happens, except a black bar appearing briefly.
6. in a terminal, " $> ps aux|grep xfce4-" shows this line:
myaccount 4751 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 15:43 0:00 [xfce4-netload-p] <defunct>

The problem is the same for the 3 plugins mentionned above.

This seems like the same bug as Bug #90261 but it occurs for the three above plugins.

This is using xubuntu gutsy RC ( i guess ) and a kernel 2.6.17-12, all the latest upgrades done.

I'll attach my ".xsession-errors" file below.

This bug appeared as i had upgraded from feisty to gutsy using the update-manager. I've reinstalled xubuntu Gutsy from scratch and everything works now.

I use Xubuntu Gutsy 7.10 64-bit (amd64)
I cannot use xfce4-mixer as an Item in the panel.
I think that it was working just after clean install
but it stopped working later and now i can`t use xfce4-mixer in panel.

So, On 7.10 xfce4-mixer does not work on panel. (only if i start it manually, apart from panel)

I've got the same problem after Fiesty -> Gusty upgrade via 'update-manager -c'. After trying to add those items to my panel nothing happens. 'ps auxn | grep -i xfce' produces this:

    1000 29364 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:03 0:00 [xfce4-systemloa] <defunct>
    1000 29365 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:03 0:00 [xfce4-systemloa] <defunct>
    1000 30214 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:14 0:00 [xfce4-mixer-plu] <defunct>
    1000 30215 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:14 0:00 [xfce4-mixer-plu] <defunct>
    1000 30503 0.7 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:17 0:00 [xfce4-netload-p] <defunct>
    1000 30504 0.5 0.0 0 0 ? Z 16:17 0:00 [xfce4-netload-p] <defunct>

Notice that after single item execution, ps shows two <defunct> processes.
