No graphical display on Lubuntu after installation

Lubuntu alternate xenial daily amd64 (version 20151230.1)

No problems encountered wile installing the system (installed on VirtualBox) but after rebooting, and at the attempt of the first log in, there are no graphics, just plain text. the problem remains and after the log in.

jim, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please advise to the following:
1) What version of virtualbox are you running specifically?
2) Is this still reproducible with the latest daily from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ ?

Christopher, the version of virtualbox I'm running is 5.0.10_Ubuntu r104061. I have tested newer Lubuntu daily builds , but the bug is not reproducible, and it is probably fixed.
