Dell Inspiron 1525 built-in digital microphone does not record

Intel ICH8 with Sigmatel codec:

Sound is audible without installing linux-backports-modules, but the mixers do not show any record sources.
linux-backports-modules continues to produce speaker output, but the mixers do not understand the settings and cannot start.

Are you having problems still with the digital mic (next to webcam) or the analog mics in front of the laptop? The digital mic should work with the custom Dell l-b-m (v50).

Ok, now it's working but I had to select in the Volume Control, Edit > Preferences, check "Digital input source" and then select "Digital Mic 1" under Options tab.

Now it's working the digital mic and also the analog input :)

So you have the *analog* mic working? You sure it's the analog and not the digital?

Uhm... you are right, the sound seems to be acquired by the frontal digital mic, my wrong.
